World Smile Day: 4 Ways to Achieve a Sparkling Smile

What better time could there be than World Smile Day to talk about ways to keep your smile healthy and sparkling? So, we thought we would share a few tips n’ tricks with you to help you look after your own smile.

Some of the best things we can do for our smile are usually the simplest, like brushing twice a day and flossing. But that is boring, so to spice it up, let’s do this!

The best way to look after your smile is to invest in an electric toothbrush. These are amazing because they make sure you give your teeth the full two minutes they deserve every time you brush. They have built-in timers that let you know when you reach two minutes. This makes sure you don’t just skip out early and cheat your teeth out of their time.

Most people using a manual toothbrush brush for less than one minute and usually use too much pressure as a substitute for the correct amount of time spent. An electric toothbrush not only solves this problem, but they will feel much cleaner because these electric brushes work much better than what we can do with a manual brush. Plus, they are much better at removing stain, so if a bright white smile is what you’re after, then trust me on this; invest in one!

Clean the in-betweens

Now as for flossing, nobody likes when we use this word so let’s say “interdental cleaning”, which means cleaning in between your teeth. Floss is not the only option here. Floss is the original interdental cleaning tool but now you have so many other options.

A water floss or air floss is an excellent interdental tool for cleaning areas that a toothbrush can’t reach. Both work with just water, air, or both being flushed between the teeth to remove debris, particles, and bacteria.

Another easy interdental aid that you can try is an interdental brush or pick. These work like toothpicks, but they are much softer to use and there is less chances of damaging the gums. Your mouth will definitely feel fresher after doing this. You just need to stick with it for a few weeks to create the habit, then you will never look back.

Spit, don't rinse

Another great tip for keeping a healthy smile is that after you brush your teeth, try not to rinse off the toothpaste. All those good things your toothpaste promises you such as being anti-cavity, antibacterial, anti-stain can’t happen in just 2 minutes while you are brushing. So, once you have finished brushing, don’t rinse you mouth out. Try to leave it for about 30 minutes before you rinse. This allows time for the paste to work its magic as promised.
Keep up with the check-ups
