Dental hygiene

Even if you are very good at brushing your teeth, you will inevitably leave some bacteria behind. This gradually hardens and forms tartar, which sticks to the tooth surface and you are unable to remove it by brushing alone. Therefore, it is important to attend regular oral hygiene cleanings to remove any tartar build-up and to reinforce good cleaning habits and update on the latest cleaning products available in the market. We recommend having a cleaning with Jo Flower, our hygienist, every 6 months.

Gum treatment

Many people suffer from gum disease. Prolonged tartar build-up can eventually cause inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). Gingivitis causes swollen gums that bleed easily whilst brushing teeth. Simple treatment together with changes in hygiene habits will cure this disease. In susceptible patients, gingivitis may eventually progress to a more serious condition called periodontitis. Periodontitis causes teeth to gradually lose support and may fall out. People are mostly unaware of periodontal disease because it is normally not painful.  If you attend check-ups regularly, your dentist can detect early signs of this disease and help prevent its progression.
