Our pediatric dentist uses a liquid form of SDF containing at least 38 percent of the SDF solution. The application of SDF itself is quick and painless and can be done on multiple teeth in just one appointment.

Are there any contraindications or side effects?
Silver Diamine Fluoride is widely considered by dentists to be safe, even on young children. It shouldn’t be used for patients who have silver allergy, advanced gum disease, or major tooth decay that has exposed the soft tissue of the tooth beneath the enamel. The only common side effect of SDF noted in hundreds of studies is black staining around the area where SDF is applied.
