The gas has a faint, sweet odor and is inhaled through a mask that is placed over the nose before the treatment. All you need to do is breathe normally and you’ll feel the effects within a few minutes.
It is not intended to put you to sleep and you stay conscious during the procedure. You will be able to hear, understand and respond to your dentist’s instructions. The effects wear off as soon as the mask is removed.
